She said Slovenia would continue to strive for a lasting and just peace and support Ukraine’s efforts to organise a peace summit on the second anniversary of the war. In her opinion, the summit should be attended by all relevant actors, with broad international support.
As regards humanitarian aid, development cooperation and reconstruction, the President reaffirmed Slovenia’s commitment to providing continued assistance for Ukraine. "Slovenia will continue to provide humanitarian aid, with an emphasis on demining, reconstruction and the rehabilitation of war victims. We are also planning to ensure further support for the Grain from Ukraine programme," said the President. She called attention to the role of the Slovenian non-profit humanitarian organisation ITF Enhancing Human Security, which opened an office in Kiev to facilitate the planning of its activities.
Planned activities include the reconstruction of housing, accommodation centres, kindergartens, schools, sport facilities, water distribution systems and other infrastructure facilities. Slovenia will also participate in the development of partnerships with Ukraine and support its European integration. At the same time, the President expressed her support for continued cooperation with the Olena Zelenska Foundation and the consideration of potential projects in cooperation with the service-providing organisations. In 2023, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia allocated EUR 200,000 to the foundation for rebuilding a hospital in Izyum.
President Pirc Musar also wished President Zelenskyy a happy birthday, which he is celebrating today. She also called for continued close cooperation between the two countries and acknowledged the courage of Ukraine’s leadership and population in the face of Russia’s aggression. President Zelenskyy invited the Slovenian President to visit Ukraine.
