President Pirc Musar expressed her deep concern over the violence and conflict in the Middle East, especially in Gaza. "The situation in Gaza demands an immediate end to the crimes and killings of civilians. A peaceful solution to the conflict is essential for the region’s stability and the hope of people living there," said the President. At the same time, she strongly condemned Hamas’s attack on Israel.

She also highlighted excellent relations between Slovenia and Germany, stressed the importance of economic cooperation in light of the ever-changing challenges in the world and thanked her German counterpart for technical assistance in eliminating the consequences of floods that hit Slovenia in August 2023. "Our strategic partnerships are based on shared values and goals. Commitment to cooperation, both political and economic, remains essential to our countries’ future, said President Pirc Musar," calling attention to the changing economic landscape. The presidents agreed that high voter turnout in this year’s European elections would be very important, as a wave of dissatisfaction is spreading over EU member states, as reflected in today’s farmers’ demonstrations in Germany.

The President is in Berlin as the honorary patron of a business hub, held as part of the European Men’s Championship by the Handball Federation of Slovenia in cooperation with the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, the Spirit Agency, the Slovenian Tourist Board, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Berlin. As part of the event, the President will be the keynote speaker at a business conference organised at the headquarters of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry by the Slovenian Embassy, the Slovenian-German Chamber AHK and the Handball Federation of Slovenia. The main topic at the business conference is the future of economic cooperation between Slovenia and Germany in the course of the green transition. The President will also meet with the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Lower Saxony, Dirk Stenkamp. In the evening, she will cheer for Slovenian handball players, who will play against Norway in their last game in the group stage.

Yesterday, President Pirc Musar addressed the crowd at the reception for the Slovenian team and Slovenians living in Berlin. She expressed her support to the Slovenian athletes competing in the championship in Germany this year and congratulated the handball team on their excellent start in the competition. A special thank you was extended to all compatriots who have found their life of opportunity in the German capital: "You are our ambassadors abroad, the promoters of our culture, language and values. Your dedication and national pride are extremely important, as you represent a bridge between Slovenia and Germany and the rest of the world."
