President Nataša Pirc Musar appoints new Secretary-General

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar appointed Jan Kovačič as the new Secretary-General of the Office of the President from 1 July, 2024.

Jan Kovačič has been working at the highest state level for ten years, namely in protocol and public relations. He graduated in international relations from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana in 2015. During his studies, he worked in the Protocol of the Republic of Slovenia. Since March 2017, he is employed in the Office of the President of the Republic of Slovenia. Before President Nataša Pirc Musar appointed him Secretary-General of her Office, he worked in her cabinet in the fields of strategic communication, public relations and management of the President's duties in Slovenia and abroad. For former President Borut Pahor, he worked in planning of his public engagements in Slovenia and abroad and public relations.

As the head of the President’s Office, he will be responsible for Office’s operation and for providing any support the President needs to perform her duties.
