First Gentleman of Slovenia on a humanitarian mission in Palestine
On 7th January 2025, Dr. Aleš Musar and Mr. Tomaž Lovrenčič, Director of Slovenian non-profit humanitarian organisation ITF Enhancing Human Security officially presented a donation of medical equipment and supplies to Harmallah hospital in Bethlehem, the only public hospital in Palestine that offers prosthetics to victims of explosive devices.

The handover ceremony was also attended by official representatives of Slovenia and the Republic of Korea in Palestine, the head of the Office of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Vojko Kuzma and Mr. Geon Gyn-Suk. Both countries have been supporting the operations of the Prosthetic Rehabilitation Centre in Bethlehem for more than 10 years. During this time, Palestinian doctors and medical staff have provided prosthetics to more than 5000 patients, civilian victims of explosive devices, including, unfortunately many women and children.
The handover of medical equipment in Bethlehem was followed by a meeting in Ramallah with participants of the ITF workshop for Palestinian teachers on psychosocial support for children. At the conclusion of the training, Dr. Musar conveyed personal greetings from the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, and presented to each of them a letter of support and encouragement by the President.
Before leaving for Palestine, Dr. Musar, the Ambassador of Slovenia to Israel Mr. Bogdan Batič and Mr. Lovrenčič visited Kibbutz Nir Oz and the site of Nova Festival, which were the first targets of the terrorist attack on 7th October 2023. Dr. Musar also met with the First Lady of Israel Mrs. Michal Herzog with whom they discussed humanitarian activities of the First Ladies and Gentlemen.
