Spouse of the President of the Republic Dr. Aleš Musar hosts on a visit to Slovenia First Lady of Ukraine Ms. Olena Zelenska

At the invitation of Dr. Aleš Musar, the First Gentleman of Slovenia, the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, visited Slovenia with her delegation on November 18-19, 2024. The visit focused on strengthening humanitarian efforts, particularly in supporting Ukraine during the ongoing war.

Collaboration between Ms. Olena Zelenska and Dr. Musar played a significant role in this initiative. During their discussions, both emphasized the importance of international cooperation, humanitarian aid, and psychosocial support.   
 
The visit began at the Presidential Palace, where Dr. Aleš Musar welcomed Ms. Olena Zelenska on her first visit to Slovenia. This was followed by a meeting with the President of Slovenia, Ms. Nataša Pirc Musar, attended by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Ms. Julia Svyrydenko and Dr. Musar. The discussions centered on assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Slovenia and strengthening bilateral relations.   
 
As part of the visit, Ms. Olena Zelenska and Dr. Aleš Musar visited the Pediatric clinic in Ljubljana, where they met with children undergoing treatment and participated in a virtual meeting between Slovenian and Ukrainian medical professionals. The discussions highlighted the urgency of international cooperation in pediatric medicine and rehabilitation.   
 
On the second day, the First Lady of Ukraine began with a meeting at the University of Ljubljana, where participants explored opportunities for academic collaboration. Ms. Olena Zelenska, accompanied by Dr. Musar, also visited the National and University Library, symbolically supporting the preservation of cultural heritage through the exchange of book gifts.   
 
Later, Olena Zelenska met with high-ranking government officials, including the Slovenian Prime Minister, Dr. Robert Golob.   
 
A key moment of the visit in the humanitarian sector was her participation in the ITF Board of Advisors session. Together with Dr. Aleš Musar, they presented initiatives for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, particularly focusing on psychosocial support for war victims. Their address emphasized raising awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. They encouraged donors and international organizations to enhance support for war victims, highlighting the importance of ensuring long-term psychosocial care and education for the youth.   
 
At the session, Olena Zelenska and Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko also outlined Ukraine's specific humanitarian needs, particularly in providing psychosocial support for war victims and strengthening mental health programs.   
 
The visit of the First Lady of Ukraine to Slovenia marked a significant step toward deepening humanitarian collaboration and mutual understanding between the two nations. Through their dedication, Ms. Olena Zelenska and Dr. Aleš Musar laid the foundation for future projects aimed at supporting those affected by the war in Ukraine and beyond.
