The Sixth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen was held in Kyiv on 24 August 2026, the day Ukraine celebrated the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence. In addition to participating in the Summit, Dr. Aleš Musar also attended events marking this Ukrainian national holiday.

On the eve of the holiday, Dr. Musar attended a reception for distinguished guests at the invitation of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and his wife, Olena Zelenska. Also in attendance were the President of Finland, the President of Lithuania and his spouse, the spouse of the President of Romania, and the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, and Norway. The evening event, held in the Garden of Wisdom beside Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, was interrupted by an air raid on the city, during which Ukrainian air defenses shot down five Russian drones.
Dr. Musar was also among the distinguished guests at the celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day, where he conveyed to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the greetings and congratulations of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, on the occasion of the national holiday. President Zelenskyy asked Dr. Musar to convey his personal greetings to the Slovenian President as the leader of a country that has stood firmly by Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian aggression.
