The largest global gathering of spouses of heads of state to date
The meeting in Washington D.C., attended by Dr. Aleš Musar, spouse of the President of the Republic, at the invitation of the First Lady of the United States, Ms. Melania Trump, was the first truly global gathering of its kind and, with 44 participants, the largest so far. The main topic of the meeting was an initiative for international cooperation in introducing and ensuring access to artificial intelligence–supported educational tools for all children worldwide.

The summit in Washington also provided an excellent opportunity for individual meetings and discussions among participants. In a brief conversation, Dr. Musar congratulated the First Lady of the United States on the successful organization of the event and conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar. Ms. Melania Trump was pleased to receive the greetings and asked that Dr. Musar extend her regards in return.
The conversation with the First Lady of the United States took place in the Slovenian language, which could be heard at least twice more during the conference. The robot Figure 3, which accompanied Ms. Melania Trump to the East Room of the White House—where the summit of first ladies and spouses was held on March 25—also greeted participants with “Welcome!” in Slovenian (“Dobrodošli!”). The spouse of the President also began his address at the working meeting by greeting the First Lady in Slovenian. Dr. Musar’s speech can be viewed at the following link from 21:35 onward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqcS0XCBKG0. The White House highly appreciated Slovenia’s participation and contribution to the event.
Dr. Musar also used the Washington meeting to renew and establish contacts, as well as to hold numerous brief discussions on existing and future cooperation with other First Ladies and Spouses of world leaders.
