Those gathered were individuals interested in the topics discussed at the meeting of First Ladies and Spouses at the White House, to which they had been invited by the First Lady of the United States, Ms. Melania Trump. He presented to the attendees the content of the first day of the meeting, during which more than 40 participants—First Ladies and Spouses from all continents—discussed the role and accessibility of artificial intelligence tools in supporting education.

At the end of his visit to Washington, the spouse of the President, together with Dr. Lea Plut Pregelj, visited the Chapel of Our Lady of Brezje in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, the largest Catholic church in the United States. The chapel was established through donations from Slovene Americans and was consecrated in 1971. Dr. Plut Pregelj presented the President’s spouse with a publication issued on the occasion of the chapel’s opening. The reliefs by France Gorše depict Bishops Friderik Baraga and Anton Martin Slomšek, Slovenians who were beatified by the Pope. Inscriptions in the Slovenian language speak about the presence and role of the Slovenian community in the United States and the importance of faith in preserving its identity. Also carved in stone is an agreement under which the basilica’s leadership will ensure that at least one Holy Mass per year is celebrated for Slovenians in the United States.
