Dr. Aleš Musar visits victims of mines and explosive remnants of war in Lviv, Ukraine

At the invitation of the Superhumans Center in Lviv, Ukraine, Dr. Aleš Musar, the spouse of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, visited on 15 November 2025 the victims of mines and explosive remnants of war who are being treated there after losing a leg or an arm and are in need of adequate assistance in the form of prosthetics or other urgent medical care.

Lviv, Ukraine, 15 Nov 2025

These are wounded individuals—men, women, and children—who suffered severe bodily injuries, including limb amputations, as a result of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Their treatment and the funding of advanced prosthetics are being supported through humanitarian assistance provided by the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Korea, via the non-profit humanitarian organization ITF Enhancing Human Security from Slovenia.

Dr. Musar, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine, Ms. Mateja Prevolšek, and ITF Director Mr. Tomaž Lovrenčič, was received by the Director of Superhumans Centre, Ms. Olga Rudneva, along with medical staff and mine victims. They presented to him the extremely difficult condition of the wounded, who arrived at Superhumans with serious injuries after mine explosions or drone attacks, where orthopedic specialists work to provide prosthetics and medical procedures to enable them at least partial return to normal life.

They expressed deep gratitude for the assistance of Slovenia and Korea via ITF, as such prosthetics are very expensive, and without them the return of mostly very young victims, including children, to a normal life would not be possible. They conveyed sincere thanks to Dr. Musar for all existing assistance and for Slovenia’s humanitarian efforts to support victims of war in Ukraine, as well as for his systematic work together with the First Lady of Ukraine, Ms. Olena Zelenska, in supporting Ukrainian victims now, when they need it most.

Dr. Musar also attended the ceremonial opening of a new climbing wall, which will serve for the rehabilitation of victims of explosive remnants of war. In the evening, he hosted them at a cultural event in a prestigious Ukrainian cultural institution in Lviv, wishing them the fastest possible comprehensive reintegration and recovery, both physical and psychological, regardless of the ongoing wartime situation in Ukraine.
