They were joined by Volkan Bozkir, President of the UN General Assembly 2020-2021; Vuk Jeremić, President of the UN General Assembly 2012-2013; Benita Ferrero Waldner, former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Austria and former Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood; and Baroness Catherine Ashton, former EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy.

“I am pleased that former President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor has invited his former colleagues to Slovenia for the first International Meeting of the Friends of the Western Balkans. We share the same vision - the place of the Western Balkan countries is in the EU. The enlargement process is a long run. Such conferences can help to understand the substance better and problems that arise during the process. The transfer of knowledge from former leaders to us, who create policies today, is very valuable,” said the President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar after the meeting.
