"Our diplomatic ties, established more than three decades ago, have blossomed into a strong partnership characterised by mutual respect, shared values and common goals. This year, a new chapter in our relations is marked by the opening of an honorary consulate in Durrës at the end of February."
The President added that personalities such as Bojan Adamič had played a key role in bringing the two nations closer through art and culture in cultural diplomacy. Adamič introduced jazz to both Slovenia and Albania, demonstrating that the power of music transcends borders. Many artists and musicians continue to strengthen the ties between the two countries in similar ways. This is exemplified by today's concert by the Albanian Radio and Television Orchestra, conducted by Slovenian maestro and jazz artist Simon Krečič, which President Pirc Musar will attend in Tirana.
Tomorrow, the Slovenian President will pay an official visit to Albania, where she will meet with the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj. She will also meet separately with the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, and the country's Speaker of the Parliament, Lindita Nikolla. At the end of the day, she will lay a wreath at the Mother Albania monument at the National Martyrs' Cemetery as a mark of respect.
