Slovenia has friendly relations with both Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, and the President visited both countries during her term in office. In her conversations with both leaders, she strongly condemned any attack on civilian infrastructure, as well as any interference with the security and sovereignty of the two countries. As she stressed, such acts are unacceptable and risk further destabilising an already fragile region.
On this occasion, the President once again sincerely thanked the President of the United Arab Emirates for the support they extended to Slovenia at the beginning of the war, when the closure of airspace left many Slovenian citizens stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With their assistance and the cooperation of Flydubai, Slovenia was able to bring around one thousand of its citizens safely home.
The President also expressed her condolences and solidarity to the Amir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following the tragic loss of life in the recent helicopter crash.
In her conversations with both leaders, the President also expressed her hope that calm and restraint would prevail in the Gulf region and that diplomatic efforts would soon help restore stability, ensure the safety of the people living there, and support the rapid reconstruction of the affected infrastructure.
