Predsedniška palača, 9 Jul 2025
Special Rapporteur Albanese presented to the President, among other things, her report entitled “From economy of occupation to economy of genocide”, in which she revealed the role of foreign companies in Israel’s violations of the rights of Palestinians.
During the discussion, the President expressed Slovenia’s support for the engagement of the Special Rapporteur and other individuals and institutions striving for human rights in the OPT. She explained the ways in which Slovenia is working towards ending the conflict in Gaza, protecting civilians and civilian facilities, ensuring immediate and unhindered humanitarian access, and resolving the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.
The meeting was also an opportunity for both to reiterate a strong and determined call for a ceasefire, as only in this way can we hope for a resolution of the Middle East conflict and the peaceful and safe coexistence of both Israel and Palestine.
