President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar receives King Abdullah II of Jordan
The President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar received His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan at the Presidential Palace during his visit to Slovenia for the MED9 Summit in Portorož. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, also attended the meeting. The bilateral meeting focused on strengthening the friendly ties between the two countries, discussing the situation in the Middle East, and expanding cooperation in the areas of the economy, digitalisation and humanitarian aid.

President Pirc Musar expressed her satisfaction at the signing of the Joint Declaration and the Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Transformation, which will further strengthen cooperation between Slovenia and Jordan. The President emphasised that "Slovenia and Jordan have excellent and friendly relations and we are committed to upgrading them further. We see opportunities mainly in the areas of digitalisation, green technologies, humanitarian cooperation, and education".
She also drew attention to Jordan's significant humanitarian efforts in supporting the people of Gaza. "Over the past year, Jordan has demonstrated remarkable solidarity by delivering aid to Gaza. Slovenia, too, has already sent multiple shipments of humanitarian aid through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, which is a meaningful expression of our cooperation and shared values," noted President Pirc Musar. Slovenia and Jordan have been working together on humanitarian projects for over a decade, including through the ITF Enhancing Human Security.
In concluding the meeting, President Pirc Musar stressed the importance of the Middle East Peace Process, expressing support for Jordan's relentless efforts to achieve peace. "Slovenia supports the two-state solution and urges all parties to continue negotiations. A stable and lasting peace in the region is crucial for the security and future of the entire Middle East," she added.
