President of the Republic pays tribute to fallen soldiers and stresses the importance of humanitarian aid to Ukraine in Lviv

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, visited Lviv as part of her working visit to Ukraine. At the Lychakiv Cemetery, she laid wreaths at the memorial to the fallen Slovenian soldiers of the First World War and fallen soldiers who died defending Ukraine. She also visited the Superhumans centre, an organisation providing medical rehabilitation for victims of Russian aggression, and met with Makism Kozitsky, Governor of the Lviv Regional Administration.

"It is a very special honour to be here with you. The centre is something unique, probably unparalleled in Europe", said the President during her visit to the Superhumans rehabilitation centre. "The centre’s construction and opening are an example of a dream come true in this difficult period; every step that brings something good for the people of Ukraine counts." The centre was co-financed, among others, by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia together with the Government of the Republic of Korea, through the Slovenian non-profit humanitarian organisation ITF.

President Pirc Musar stressed that Slovenia has supported Ukraine in its fight for freedom, independence and territorial integrity since the first day of the Russian aggression. "My message to you is: you can count on us. You have been able to count on us since the first day of the Russian aggression against Ukraine's freedom, independence and territorial integrity."

She also highlighted Slovenia's efforts to help wounded war veterans, who participate in rehabilitation programmes and receive psychosocial support. Slovenia has also contributed funds for children's centres in Kharkiv and Zarichne. "Slovenia is aware of the complexity of war and its consequences for people. That is why it has decided to help wounded war veterans, include them in rehabilitation programmes and provide them with psychosocial support."

The President also expressed her deep gratitude to all those involved in the Superhumans centre: "It was not an easy task to set up such a centre and I am encouraged by the efforts to open similar centres in other regions of Ukraine."
