Slovenian President attends funeral of Pope Francis
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, accompanied by her husband, Dr Aleš Musar, paid her respects to Pope Francis at his funeral in the Vatican. The ceremony brought together a large gathering of the faithful, Church representatives, and many high-ranking European and world leaders.

Speaking after the ceremony, the President described the farewell to Pope Francis as a deeply moving experience, marked by a serenity and peace that resonated inside St. Peter's Basilica and in the square outside. She emphasised that as we bid farewell to Pope Francis, his enduring messages and actions, consistently aimed at peace and unity, will continue to guide us.
She expressed her hope that the next Pope would carry forward Pope Francis' vision, saying that the world now needed people like him more than ever – people of peace and human compassion. She highlighted his efforts for peace in Ukraine and expressed her hope that his message of coexistence would reach those who are negotiating for peace across the globe.
The President added that the words Pope Francis had addressed to her during their meetings had touched her deeply and would accompany her throughout her life.
