Meeting with Ambassadors of EU member states on current European issues
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, participated in a meeting with the ambassadors of European Union member states in Slovenia, organized by the Embassy of Hungary, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU. The discussion focused on the challenges and priorities of the European Union in the upcoming period, including key issues related to European security, economic development, and digital and green transformation.

The President expressed support for the new composition of the European Commission, which is set to begin work on December 1. She emphasized that the effective functioning of European institutions in today’s dynamic world is crucial for maintaining European stability and competitiveness. She also expressed confidence in Slovenia's candidate, Marta Kos, who, after a successful hearing, will take on the role of Commissioner for EU Enlargement.
As part of the broader discussion on the EU’s priorities, the President highlighted the importance of the EU's enlargement to the countries of the Western Balkans, describing it as the most important geostrategic policy of the European Union in the current circumstances. She advocated for the accelerated integration of the region, taking into account the progress of individual countries and strengthening reforms, which will contribute to long-term stability and security in the region.
