Publish date Antalya, Republika Turčija,
The two interlocutors confirmed the good and friendly relations between Slovenia and Türkiye, based on the strategic partnership established in 2011 and the Action Plan from 2024, and expressed interest in preparing a new Action Plan to further strengthen cooperation, as the current one is soon to expire. Particular attention was devoted to economic cooperation, with trade between the two countries continuing to grow, alongside increasing opportunities for collaboration in logistics, construction, tourism, the automotive and defence industries, and green technologies. The President particularly highlighted the strategic importance of the Port of Koper as an efficient logistics link connecting the Turkish economy with European markets, and welcomed the steadily improving air connectivity between Ljubljana and Istanbul.
A significant part of the discussion was also dedicated to the situation in the Middle East. The President stressed that further military escalation represents a serious threat to regional and global stability. The only viable path forward lies in the protection of civilians and diplomacy. She also noted that the conflict extends beyond regional boundaries, affecting energy markets, maritime routes, and global supply chains. The two interlocutors also exchanged views on the role of the United Nations and the reform of the UN Security Council.
