28th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide

On July 11, we commemorate the loss of more than 8,000 victims - brothers, sons, husbands, and fathers from Srebrenica, who were brutally murdered in one of the largest massacres in recent history in Europe. On the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, we stand in solidarity with the victims' families, survivors, and all those who continue to seek justice and healing. And we honour the victims of one of the darkest chapters in recent history.

Alas, we have not learned the tragedy’s lesson. The anniversary stands as a painful reminder of the immense suffering endured by the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the conflict in the 1990s. But it also serves as a stark warning of the consequences of nationalist rhetoric, of unchecked hatred, prejudice, and the failure to uphold the principles of humanity and respect for human dignity.

It is our shared responsibility to promote justice, to hold the perpetrators of the genocide accountable, and to work tirelessly towards building a future based on peace, understanding, and mutual respect.
